After discovering which outlet the reporter worked for, the U.S. president gave one of his unusual responses. Donald Trump told him to “get a real job.”
On Tuesday, May 20, Donald Trump spoke with journalists after a meeting with his party at the Capitol. During the interaction, one of the journalists asked the president about the vote on a bill.
“Andy Harris said you didn’t convince enough people to vote in favor of the bill?” asked the reporter.
Trump responded by asking which outlet he worked for. The journalist said “NOTUS,” considered a new publication from Washington by the Allbritton Institute of Journalism, a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization.

After not recognizing the outlet, Trump fired back at the journalist: “Who? I don’t even know what the heck that is. Get a real job.”
The NOTUS website, according to its official description, “is produced by an editorial team made up of experienced journalists and early-career reporters and is funded through donations and grants.”
Users on the X network (formerly Twitter) didn’t miss the chance to laugh at the president’s comment. “Another masterstroke, I fear,” wrote one of them. “Classic Trump,” commented another.
“Trump’s disdain for the NOTUS reporter shows his aversion to smaller media outlets,” noted another user.
